The Colts lost yet again this Sunday in Buffalo dropping their record to 3-10 on the season. Chuck Pagano was forced to answer more questions regarding his future in Indianapolis on Monday.

With the arrival of new general manager Chris Ballard this season, Chuck Pagano’s seat began to heat up. Pagano had seen his former general manager Ryan Grigson fired, and he knew his job would be next up on the chopping block if the Colts failed to meet expectations this season.

Even with Andrew Luck missing the entirety of the 2017 campaign, the Colts should be better than their record indicates. They’ve had a halftime lead in nearly every game this season, but their execution in close games has cost them dearly.

Pagano addressed the media about his job security at Monday’s press conference as he tries to stay positive.

"“You know what you got into,” said Pagano following Monday’s practice. “That’s all I’ve known forever. The shelf life for these jobs isn’t long. You embrace every single opportunity, every single day, every single game to get to go to practice with these guys and grind, work and compete and play games. So it’s a blessing. You can’t sit there and poo-poo and worry. I’m good. I’m good.”"

Many NFL pundits have assumed it’s a foregone conclusion that Chuck Pagano will be gone after the regular season is over, and that Chris Ballard will be able to make his first head coaching hire during his tenure as general manager.

In football there is never simply one person that can shoulder all the blame, but Chuck Pagano has been a constant figure in a franchise that has underachieved over the past few seasons. This will be his first year finishing with a record under .500 with the Colts, but the fashion in which they’ve lost these games could lead to a firing of the AFC South’s longest-tenured head coach.

For now, there’s not much Pagano can do other than prepare his team for Thursday night’s game against Denver at Lucas Oil Stadium.
