Jacoby Brissett Enters Concussion Protocol After Loss to Steelers
By Andrew Ites
The Colts suffered a tough loss on Sunday against the Steelers, but they may have lost their starting quarterback as well as Jacoby Brissett enters the NFLs concussion protocol.
The Steelers’ Chris Boswell hit a 33-yard field goal as time expired to send the Colts’ record to 3-7 on the season. Indianapolis is just a few plays away from being .500 as they’ve lost three games by three points or less.
The Colts’ record would be even worse if general manager Chris Ballard hadn’t acquired Jacoby Brissett in a trade at the end of the preseason.
Brissett has been a revelation this season as he came into Sunday’s game completing 61.1% of his passes for nearly 2,000 yards at 7.2 yards per attempt with 7 touchdowns and 4 interceptions. He added 222 yards, 2 touchdowns and a pick to those totals on Sunday in a losing effort.

The second-year quarterback was evaluated for a concussion after getting hit in an attempt to slide in the second half, but he was allowed to return to the game and played every snap.
After the game, Brissett was forced to enter the league’s concussion protocol and is currently week to week with a head injury.
The concussion protocol has been a major storyline this week after Russell Wilson appeared to skip several steps of the evaluation process during Thursday night’s game against the Cardinals.
The Colts’ medical staff looks to have made a similar mistake on Sunday, and the organization could be punished if they are found guilty of any wrongdoing.

In the meantime, the Colts may be forced to start Scott Tolzien for the second time this season. Luckily, Brissett will have a bye week to recover from this injury before the Colts take on the Titans.
