Colts Place Henry Anderson on Injured Reserve
By Andrew Ites
The injury bug hit the Colts pretty hard this week as Henry Anderson will be placed on season-ending injured reserve with a laryngeal fracture.
You may be asking yourself “what is a laryngeal fracture”?
Essentially, it’s a broken throat.
Anderson’s appearance on Wednesday’s injury report with a throat injury was odd, and it sounds like it’s serious enough to end the defensive tackle’s 2017 season.
Anderson had been playing well this season after we tabbed him as a possible breakout player. He was 15th in the NFL in run stops, according to Pro Football Focus, and he was a key piece of a much-improved defensive line that had become one of the team’s biggest strengths.

The former Stanford product has had all three of his NFL seasons marred with injury. His rookie season ended after just 9 games, he was only able to play in 11 games last year, and this year will again end prematurely after 9 games.
With an injury as odd as a broken throat it’s difficult to label Anderson as “injury prone”, but it would be nice to see him put together a full 16-game season before the Colts offer him a contract extension.
Anderson will be in the final year of his rookie contract next season, which will act as his final chance to show the Colts that they need to keep him around.
Anderson will join Andrew Luck, Jack Mewhort, and Malik Hooker on the injured reserve, and Vontae Davis will likely join them if he chooses to undergo surgery.
