Jim Irsay Told Tony Dungy That Andrew Luck’s Injury is “Inside His Head”
By Drew Koch
Former Indianapolis head coach Tony Dungy revealed comments made to him by Colts owner Jim Irsay in which Irsay reportedly told Dungy that Andrew Luck’s injury is “inside his head now.”
Tony Dungy, the head coach in Indianapolis from 2002-2008, was on The Dan Patrick Show on Monday, November 6th. During a commercial cut-in, Dungy explained what he had heard from Irsay in regard to Andrew Luck and his season-ending injury.
“I don’t know what’s going on there. Jim Irsay made a comment to me about six weeks ago, ‘It’s inside his head now,'” Dungy stated. Bob Kravitz of WTHR.com was the first to report the story.
Dungy later stated that he heard Irsay’s remarks when he was in town for Peyton Manning’s celebration, which was in Week 5 against the San Francisco 49ers.

This is just latest in a laundry list of problem, surrounding the Colts and their organization’s standing with their franchise quarterback.
Luck initially injured his right shoulder in Week 3 of the 2015 season against the Tennessee Titans. He would later be shelved for the remainder of the season after suffering a lacerated kidney and partial abdominal tear.
Luck signed a six-year mega-deal with the Colts during the off-season. He would play the entirety of the 2016, missing only one game due to a concussion.
Earlier this year, Jim Irsay revealed in a tweet that Andrew Luck had successful shoulder surgery and would be suited up to start the 2017 season. That turned out to be incredibly optimistic, and the Colts currently sit at the bottom of the AFC South without Luck.
Luck has proven to be one of the toughest players in the league fighting through multiple serious injuries during his career, and he does not deserve to have his toughness questioned by the team’s owner.
Irsay’s ownership of the Colts has been surrounded by controversial decisions, and this appears to be another.
