Phillip Dorsett is in the midst of an important training camp battle, but he’s missed practice time with a hamstring injury.
We’ve highlighted the competition for the third spot on the wide receiver depth chart as one of the most important position battles of Colts training camp.
Dorsett, the former first round pick, has a chance to win the job, but he has missed the last four practices of training camp with a hamstring injury. He also missed minicamp with another hamstring injury, so it’s a bit concerning that he’s having trouble with his recovery.
Chester Rogers is reportedly winning the competition for the job. With Dorsett’s injury issues and Kamar Aiken‘s apparent poor practice performance, Rogers may be increasing his lead in the position battle.
The Colts have seen another top receiver struggle with training camp injuries this year.
Donte Moncrief missed a few days of practice with an injury to his AC joint in his shoulder. Like Dorsett, this is a recurring injury for Moncrief as his season was ended with a shoulder injury last year.

The Colts’ wide receiving corps needs as many practice reps they can get in this year’s training camp. With question marks still surrounding Andrew Luck‘s status, the Colts may have to begin the season with a backup quarterback under center.
If one of the backups is forced into action in Week 1 against the Rams, it is imperative that these receivers build a solid rapport with the second-string quarterback.

Even though he’s a former first round pick, Phillip Dorsett’s roster spot is not set in stone. There is a new front office in town, and they won’t hesitate to cut him if he can’t help this team.
Dorsett’s injury comes at a terrible time, and Colts fans are hoping for a quick recovery so he can get back on the practice field.
