The Indianapolis Colts head to the east coast to face the New York Jets on Monday Night Football, so we decided to get some inside info on this week’s foe.

The Colts desperately need a win to keep their playoff hopes alive, but they have to fend off a formidable Jets defense on the road to keep pace in the AFC South. The Colts sit at 5-6 squaring off against the 3-8. The forecast calls for clear skies, but cold weather (luckily the only cold weather game they’ll have to play in the final month of the season).

We spoke with Luis Tirado Jr. editor of The Jet Pressto get some inside information on this week’s opponent.

Here’s what Tirado had to say about the Colts at Jets matchup:

So, about that Ryan Fitzpatrick holdout, any buyer’s remorse? The Jets are one of the most efficient rushing teams in the league, but nearly dead last in passing. Is it just Fitzpatrick or other issues as well?

I was one of the very few that felt the games Fitzpatrick played with his contract left a lot of bad impressions to many across the organization, especially fans. He isn’t the only problem we have as the receiving corps has been banged up as well as on their offensive line. For whatever reason, offensive coordinator Chan Gailey continues to pass more than run, even though Fitzpatrick clearly doesn’t have the arm strength to consistently deliver.

The Jets front seven is among the best in the league. The Colts offensive line, not so much. Coupled with coach Chuck Pagano’s comments about running the ball more, does that make you hopeful for Monday? Is there any way the Colts can beat this formidable part of New York’s defense (or should they just go deep all night)?

I just don’t see the Jets winning this game. Last I checked, Andrew Luck is playing and shouldn’t have any problems slicing and dicing the Jets defensive secondary. I see the Colts passing for much more than actually running the football.

Who is a player that Colts fans might not know, but could be a big factor on Monday? Is there anyone who needs to really step up for the Jets in order for them to pull off a win?

I’d have to say rookie linebacker Darron Lee. He’s finally coming along and playing well, even giving out defensive assignments in the heat of battle. Keep an eye on him as he’s due for a breakout game.

Aside from Andrew Luck, what player would you like to take off the Colts roster and add to the Jets?

I know he’s not doing all that great this season but I’d say tight end Dwayne Allen. The Jets have never had a viable tight end in years and would love to have someone with his experience to keep those chains moving.

What is your prediction? Who wins on Monday night and why?

Colts win in a blowout game on Monday Night Football. The Jets have no chance at beating the Colts and will lose 31-10. The Colts passing attack will light up the Jets secondary like there is no tomorrow.
