Henry Anderson off PUP; Davis, Robinson banged up
By Evan Reller
The Indianapolis Colts received more bad news than good following their second preseason game of the year. One key defensive lineman is making progress towards his return while the team’s starting corners both suffered injuries.
The Colts were already thin at cornerback, and all of the sudden it’s gotten much worse. Coach Chuck Pagano said in his Monday press conference that starting corners Vontae Davis and Patrick Robinson will both be out for the foreseeable future.
Davis suffered a bad ankle injury that has him listed as week-to-week. Robinson is in slightly better shape after suffering a groin injury in Saturday’s game and is day-to-day.
“It’s a little scary,” Pagano said on the CB situation. “It’s not pretty right now. We’ll look on the street (for CB depth), we’ll look wherever we have to.”

Second year cornerback D’Joun Smith is still inching back to full time work and is currently on a pitch count. Darius Butler sat out Saturday night’s game against the Ravens with a minor hamstring injury (kept out more as a precaution than anything else).
The Colts did have some good news, however, as they were able to take defensive end Henry Anderson off the physically unable to perform list today. Anderson has been rehabbing a torn ACL he suffered last November against the Broncos. Anderson was making a strong case for Defensive Rookie of the Year before the injury and was one of the most impactful player on that side of the ball in 2015.
Pagano said that Anderson will practice this week, but will be brought back into fold slowly. It is unlikely that he’ll play in either of the final two preseason games (and really, why risk it?) but has a good shot at being ready in time for Week 1 on September 11th against the Lions.
Hopefully the injuries to Robinson and Davis won’t linger into the season. While it would be nice to have both for the season opener, their continued health throughout the year is far more important than rushing them back.
We’ll have updates on these injuries as they become available.
