The Indianapolis Colts have announced Thursday that the team has hired Tim Berbenich as an offensive assistant/assistant quarterbacks coach and reassigned Jim Hostler from wide receivers to tight ends coach.
Berbenich enters his 4th season as a Colts assistant coach, having spent last season as a defensive assistant. However, he has prior experience with his newfound role, as he was an offensive assistant for the Colts from 2013-14.
Prior to joining the Colts, Berbenich was an assistant wide receivers coach for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2009-11), and even earlier an assistant running backs coach (2008) and offensive quality control coach (2006-07).
Before coaching for the Buccaneers, Berbenich was a quality control coach for the New York Jets (2005), as well as an offensive assistant (2003-04).
He has over 13 years of NFL coaching experience.
Meanwhile, the Colts reassigned Jim Hostler to tight ends coach, after recently hiring Lee Hull as their wide receivers coach in what was Hostler’s old coaching position. While there was prior speculation that the Colts could have two wide receivers coaches next season, that appears to no longer be the case.

Before joining the 49ers, Hostler coached the New York Jets quarterbacks and wide receivers (2003-04). He also was the New Orleans Saints assistant wide receivers coach (2001-02).
Hostler has over 25 years of coaching experience.
