Colts at Dolphins Injury Report: Hasselbeck Expects to Play

The Colts head south to face the Dolphins and we have the latest injury news for both teams.

Despite popular belief, the Colts season is still going on. There is a slim chance (and a number of odd scenarios) where they can win the AFC South and make the playoffs. The problem is that they’ll have to do it with a team that is thoroughly beat up.

Somehow, Matt Hasselbeck is planning to play this Sunday. Even with multiple rib injuries and now a sore back (as a result of his head hitting the turf?), Hasselbeck is still planning to play. He’s even on a liquid diet and icing his jaw after taking a helmet to the chin strap against the Texans.

Coach Chuck Pagano has given Hasselbeck an out, he’s said that he can sit and rest. No one would blame him, but the 40-year old QB is determined to carry the team for another week. On Wednesday, Hasselbeck was limited at practice but still on the field throwing the ball around.

He wasn’t the only limited quarterback either. Andrew Luck is still recovering from his kidney injury (which apparently isn’t fully healed yet) but was able to get in some work on Wednesday.

The Colts starting inside linebackers were also limited yesterday. Jerrell Freeman is still rehabbing his sore hamstring and D’Qwell Jackson is nursing a sore quad. Jackson’s injury has lingered for some time, but hasn’t cost him any games. Freeman seems to perpetually have a hamstring injury, and he’s missed a few games this season but did play last week.

Tight end Jack Doyle was limited yesterday with a toe injury. There wasn’t any indicating of severity. Erik Walden was also limited with a lingering foot injury.

A number of players sat out on Wednesday.

Donte Moncrief was out with a toe injury. He was limited all last week with a sore foot, but played on Sunday.

Cornerback D’Joun Smith was out with a knee injury that has cost him most of the season. Safety Colt Anderson has a sprained ankle that kept him out of practice. Linebacker Josh McNary is dealing with a groin injury. Special teams ace Winston Guy has a shoulder and hamstring injury that kept him out for this week’s first practice.
