Colts vs Texans Injury Report: Starters Back at Practice

The Indianapolis Colts host the Houston Texans on Sunday in a match that will basically decide the division, but both teams are dealing with injuries.

The Colts are dealing with a number of injuries all over the field right now, but got some good news with a number of players returning to the practice field on Thursday. We got some big updates on Andrew Luck on Wednesday. First was that he was upping his work load and returning to practice, but the second was that Luck wouldn’t play on Sunday.

Luck was once again limited on Thursday as his kidney recovers. He still has yet to be cleared for 11-on-11 work in practice. For more on some key players back at work, head here.

After taking Wednesday off, Matt Hasselbeck was limited in practice on Thursday. He reportedly has a back and rib injury that leaves his status on Sunday in doubt.

More from Horseshoe Heroes

Hasselbeck said after practice that breathing is still an issue for him due to the rib injury. On Monday he privately thought there was no way he could play, but today he felt more optimistic. Hasselbeck also said that he was unable to throw the ball without any pain, meaning even if he plays Sunday he won’t be healthy.

Left tackle Anthony Castonzo was limited in practice for the second straight day. He was out the past few weeks with a knee sprain, but is optimistic about playing against the Texans.

Vontae Davis returned to practice in a limited capacity today. He was given Wednesday off with a knee injury. Seeing the injury in Sunday’s game, it looked like it would be season ending but didn’t even take Davis out of the game. He’ll likely move to a full practice Friday.

Four players were held out today with various injuries.

D’Qwell Jackson is still dealing with a thigh injury. He was limited yesterday, but held out Wednesday. The injury did not prevent him from playing against the Jaguars.

Donte Moncrief was out out for the second straight day with a foot injury suffered against the Jags. Moncrief believed that he’ll be back on the field Friday.

D’Joun Smith (knee) and Colt Anderson (ankle) were both out on Thursday as well.

A number of other players were limited on Thursday who missed Sunday’s game.

Guard Hugh Thornton was out last week with an elbow injury. He’s been limited at both practices so far this week.

Greg Toler was limited with knee and hamstring injuries. Toler was kept out of Wednesday’s practice and missed last week’s game.

Erik Walden has been limited the past two days with a foot injury that cause him to miss the Jacksonville game. He’s been dealing with the injury for a few weeks, but it has only kept him out of the one game.

Tight end Jack Doyle was limited with a toe injury the past two days. He played last week and will likely be on the field this Sunday too.
