If the Indianapolis Colts plan on making a 2nd half comeback, the team will have to do it without two of its key players in shutdown cornerback Vontae Davis and versatile tight end Dwayne Allen:
Late in the 3rd quarter, Davis left for the locker room after colliding with Jets running back Bilal Powell on a tackle. Without him, the Colts are down to just 3 healthy cornerbacks in Jalil Brown, Sheldon Price, and recently signed Eric Patterson with Greg Toler and Darius Butler already inactive.
Davis will have to see an independent neurologist in order to pass the league’s concussion protocol in order to play next week.
It’s unclear when Allen suffered his ankle injury, but it means fellow tight end Coby Fleener will assume a larger role within the offense, while 3rd tight end Jack Doyle may also possibly see an expanded role.
