The Indianapolis Colts revealed their inactive players for tonight, with two noticeable omissions in wide receiver T.Y. Hilton and veteran pass rusher Robert Mathis:
CB Darius Butler
CB Greg Toler
ILB Nate Irving
DT T.Y. McGill
OT Denzelle Good
OLB Jonathan Newsome
DL Zach Kerr
It’s obviously great news that Hilton will be out there, but also in Mathis’ case–who hasn’t played since the Colts lost in the Divisional Round of the playoffs to the New England Patriots on January 11, 2014.

For the 13-year veteran, it’s a testament to his hard work and dedication during his rehabilitation from a season-ending torn Achilles suffered last season, especially given the reported number of setbacks.
It’s a good thing Mathis is coming back tonight too because the Colts will be without another key pass rusher Jonathan Newsome, who suffered a hamstring injury in Saturday’s practice but was initially expected to play tonight.
Otherwise, the Colts will be without 2 of their top 3 cornerbacks with Greg Toler (neck) and Darius Butler (hip) sitting this one out as expected because of injuries. Jalil Brown will start in Toler’s absence–making his first start for the Colts, while Sheldon Price will presumably assume nickelback duties.
However, the defensive line also looks noticeably thinner in depth, particularly at the nose tackle position where two potential backups T.Y. McGill and Zach Kerr are inactive for tonight. With just Earl Okine and Billy Winn as their only defensive line depth, it could be an area for potential concern against a power-running Jets offensive attack.
