The Indianapolis Colts host the New York Jets on Monday Night Football this week. The Colts are hoping to rebound from a disappointing Week 1 loss to the Bills, but might have to do so without a few key players.
Fans are eagerly awaiting news of wide receiver T.Y. Hilton who suffered a knee injury during last week’s loss. Hilton is officially listed as day-to-day and didn’t practice on Thursday. He officially has a knee bruise and will likely be a game time decision. But there was an optimistic tone to coach Chuck Pagano’s press conference today when speaking about Hilton’s availability.
The Colts are also hoping to get Robert Mathis back on the football field for the first time in over a year. Mathis was a last minute scratch last week against the Bills but it sounds a lot more likely that he’ll make an appearance against the Jets. There was no indication from Pagano about how much work Mathis would get if he does play but he is making progress towards getting back into a game.

Cornerback Greg Toler is still listed as week-to-week with a neck injury and did not practice today. Best guess is that he needs at least another week to recover (from being trucked by Jay Cutler).
The Colts need Toler back as Darius Butler struggled when asked to play outside and out of natural position of defending the slot. But the bigger issue is that Butler has a sore hip and did not practice today. To compound an already thin cornerback position, D’Joun Smith was out today with a knee injury.
Guard Todd Herremans was limited today with a sore shoulder. D’Qwell Jackson was also limited with a toe injury. If they work back to full participations the next two days, they will be playing on Monday night.
