According to ESPN NFL Reporter Field Yates, the Indianapolis Colts recently worked out former Cincinnati Bengals defensive lineman Devon Still:

Of course, Still is most known for his courageous 5-year old cancer-surviving daughter, Leah Still, who’s braver than any football player ever could be and a true inspiration.

In July of this past year, the elder Still accepted an ESPY award on behalf of his daughter, who was undergoing chemotherapy treatments and couldn’t attend. His daughter’s fight is why Still supports “Leah Strong” on his eye black in what’s been a nationally recognized campaign in support of cancer awareness.

As a former 2nd round pick of the Bengals in 2012, the 6’5″, 310 pound Still has played in 40 career games, recording 40 career tackles and 0.5 sacks respectively. The 26 year old is coming off a season in which he appeared in 11 games for the Bengals, registering 19 tackles.

With Arthur Jones out for the year with a season-ending ankle injury, the Colts could possibly use additional defensive line depth. The big bodied Still could give them another rotational defensive lineman to utilize on the depth chart.

From “Chuck Strong” to “Leah Strong”, his new head coach Chuck Pagano would understand better than anyone the Still’s adversity and constant fight with cancer, as the former overcame leukemia himself in 2012 in what also became a nationwide inspiration.

It’s worth noting that a 53-man active roster spot indeed opened up today, as injured backup running back Vick Ballard was released earlier.
