Andrew Luck was Apparently League’s Most Inaccurate Passer in Week 1

According to ProFootballFocus, Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck was the league’s most inaccurate passer in Week 1, only completing 56.5% of his passes:

What we know is that the Buffalo Bills utilized a ‘blitzing blueprint’ by crowding the line of scrimmage and forcing Luck to make quick decisions under duress before his wide receivers could seemingly get open:

Not even Luck’s biggest fan can’t say the star quarterback was overly sharp in Sunday’s loss. However, his wide receivers didn’t necessarily do him many favors either, as they largely struggled getting separation and in making contested catches:

"“You’ve got to make plays,” head coach Chuck Pagano said on Monday regarding his receivers stepping up. “You’ve got to make contested catches with guys draped all over you. You’ve got to burn them and you’ve got to talk them out of it (blitzing) by doing just that.”"

It’s not necessarily time to panic, as it was simply a bad day for the Colts offense and the Bills look to have the makings of one of the NFL’s truly elite defenses this season.

However, adjustments have to be made, and that goes for both Luck and his receivers going forward, as well as the play-calling in general. The Colts can expect another heavy dosage of blitzing from the New York Jets come Monday night after all.

Yet, unlike against Buffalo, they should be both much more familiar and better equipped to handle it with the knowledge learned from last week.
