The Indianapolis Colts released their final list of cuts to trim the roster to its final 53 today. They are sure to tweak the list over the next few days as they still have some holes to fill.

Here is the full list from the Colts website (you can find a bio for each player there):

G-David Arkin and WR-Vincent Brown and waived OLB-Daniel Adongo, QB-Bryan Bennett, WR-Quan Bray, WR-Duron Carter, CB-Chance Casey, NT-Josh Chapman, ILB-Carlos Fields, DT-Montori Hughes, T-Ulrick John, OLB-Cam Johnson, S-Dewey McDonald, TE-Sean McGrath, ILB-Henoc Muamba, G-Kitt O’Brien, CB-Eric Patterson, DT-Kelcy Quarles, TE-Erik Swoope, CB-Raymon Taylor and RB-Zurlon Tipton.

The biggest surprises on the list of cuts were wide receiver Carter and nose tackle Chapman. Chapman was a starter last year for the Colts and Carter was a standout in practice and training camp. Both failed to show much during the four preseason games.

This also means that running back Vick Ballard made the final 53-man list (which might indicate that Dan Herron‘s shoulder injury is worse than previously thought). This is surprising since Ballard spent most of the preseason out with a sore hamstring and re-injured himself in the final game against the Bengals.

Many of these players will still have a shot to make the Colts practice squad if they manage to clear waivers. Carter is a prime candidate for this as he is very talented but needs to learn the intricacies of playing wide receiver in the NFL.

Also among today’s most were the team placing DT Art Jones and ILB Junior Sylvestre were both placed on season ending IR with ankle injuries. With Jones on IR, Chapman cut, and Cory Redding now on the Cardinals the Colts will be featuring a completely different defensive line in 2015.

With injuries at a few key position, expect the Colts to make some moves in the coming days as other players become available. There is also the possibility of a trade to pick up a key asset (especially along the defensive line).

We’ll keep you updated as the Colts work on finalizing the roster.
