Trent Cole: Time to See What We’ve Improved On
Indianapolis Colts veteran pass rusher Trent Cole is looking forward to this Saturday night’s preseason matchup against the St. Louis Rams.
Not only because he’ll get to see a familiar face in new Rams quarterback Nick Foles, his former Philadelphia Eagles teammate, but also because it presents a great opportunity for Cole’s team to see where it stands:
"“We’re going down here just to see what we’ve improved on, and we’re going to play against a former quarterback of mine when I was in Philly that I played with (Nick) Foles, which he’s doing a great job from what I hear,” said Cole on Thursday. “But you know as a team, we’re down here to work on the things that we’ve improved on and what we’ve learned from the past game,” added Cole."
While defensive coordinator Greg Manusky discussed earlier this week that his defense needed to work on communication among other areas, Cole took a slightly different approach by stressing both tackling and execution:
"“Just on our tackling,” said Cole. “Our tackling and just executing plays. We’ve got a few new guys in the scheme like myself, and it’s a plus for us.”“It’s an advantage for us to do well and to try to synch with the rest of the guys that have been here, and like I said, I’m pretty excited because we get to play a lot more and really kind of see where we’re at as a team going into the regular season,” concluded Cole."
