Andrew Luck: ‘Super Happy’ for Reggie Wayne Joining Pats

According to Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck, he couldn’t be happier for Reggie Wayne continuing his playing career with the despised New England Patriots of all teams.

That is, even if Wayne does potentially disclose some of the Colts playbook to Patriots head coach Bill Belichick as his newest informant:

"“Oh Reg (Reggie Wayne), I don’t know…shoot everyone has everybody’s secrets in the NFL, but super happy for him,” said Luck. “What a great teammate he is, and they’ve got a great guy there.”"

During Week 6 at Lucas Oil Stadium, it figures to be a bizarre sight to see Wayne now donning a Patriots uniform after 14 seasons spent in Horseshoe Blue. In fact, it would even make for a great Twilight Zone episode:

"“Yeah, you know I’m sure it will be strange,” added Luck. “That happens, we’ve got a ways to go until that game, but if it’s #87 in that uniform coming into Lucas Oil, that’ll be different.”"

Of course, as the son of a former NFL quarterback and in the midst of securing his own mega-contract soon, Luck realizes that the league is more of a business than anyone.

He’ll likely always be grateful for Wayne’s leadership and mentorship within the offense, even if the latter has left the stable.

During Luck’s first 3 seasons, Wayne helped ease his transition into the NFL by being his sure-handed security blanket, as well as a trustworthy veteran presence. He stayed to help Luck build his own legacy and bridge the gap during a tumultuous transition for the Colts franchise.

He’ll always be remembered for that, but hopefully not for ever being a Patriot.

All happiness aside.
