According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, former Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Reggie Wayne is taking a physical with the New England Patriots today:
Of course for Colts fans, this would be a tough pill to swallow. Watching Wayne play for another team would be hard enough, let alone the Colts’ arch-nemesis in the New England Patriots.
The 36 year old Wayne has remained steadfast in his approach that he intends to play in the NFL this season. However, so far it’s been a very lukewarm market for the former beloved Colts wideout.

While Wayne still managed to catch 64 receptions for 779 receiving yards and 2 touchdowns last season, he wasn’t very effective. Whether it was due to age or injury, perhaps both, Wayne failed to show much explosion and separation. In the Colts 3 playoff games, Wayne had just 1 reception for 12 yards.
Still, Wayne is one of the greatest players in Indianapolis Colts history. Among his notable accomplishments, he ranks 2nd All-Time in Colts Career Receptions (1,070), 2nd All-Time in Colts Career Receiving Yards (14,345), 2nd All-Time in Colts Career Touchdowns (82), Most Colts Career Games Played (211), and Most Colts Career Wins (143).
He’s one of the few players, who truly embodied “the Horseshoe” both on and off the field. However, seeing him play for the Patriots and catch passes from Tom Brady of all people would be just about the worst case scenario for Colts fans.
If Wayne ultimately signs with the Patriots, one might as well have just poured kerosene on an already heated rivalry:
