Colts Reportedly Still Sweep for Bugs when Visiting Patriots

Recently, former Indianapolis Colts head coach Tony Dungy drew headlines, when he told mainstream sports radio host Dan Patrick that his star quarterback Peyton Manning used to be paranoid that the New England Patriots locker room was bugged when visiting.

In fact, Dungy went so far as to say that Manning used to hold his key conversations outside the Colts locker room when in the confines of Gillette Stadium:

"“That is very true,” Dungy told Patrick. “As Peyton talked to guys who played for the Patriots and some of the guys who came over (to the Colts), whether it is true or not, he treated it as true and we didn’t have a lot of strategy discussed inside the locker room (at Gillette Stadium).”"

However, according to longtime Colts journalist and WTHR’s very own Bob Kravitz, that paranoia is still shared by the team today, as they continue to sweep for bugs when visiting New England:

Bill Belichick‘s Patriots teams are possibly the best group of professional cheaters, or they are now safely in opposing teams’ heads…perhaps both.

Either way, whether it’s Spygate, DeflateGate, or even refusing to cover the field when the Colts come to town, Belichick’s teams are always trying to find a way to gain a competitive edge, both legal and illegal.

This only adds more fuel to an already sizzling rivalry that figures to get even more heated, when the New England Patriots play the Colts in Week 6 at Lucas Oil Stadium on Sunday Night Football this upcoming season.

Given that Tom Brady is slated to return from his 4-game suspension in that nationally televised game after an offseason marred by the DeflateGate controversy, there should be plenty of fireworks.

Only fortunately for the Colts, they won’t have to sweep for bugs this time around.
