Former Indianapolis Colt, now turned Chicago Bears cornerback Tim Jennings had high praise for his old team’s star young quarterback Andrew Luck:
"“Andrew Luck, you know what he’s done in the league, so to get us ready for the season, especially because you know he’s the comeback kid,” said Jennings after Thursday’s joint scrimmage. “They had a good day today, but we can learn off a lot, and I think it was good work here in Indy.”"
And why not?
It seems that Luck once again had ice in his veins in a clutch “game situation”:
Having left the Colts in free agency after the 2009 season after spending 4 seasons with the team, the very same one which drafted him as a 2nd round pick in 2006, Jennings has never had the luxury of actually playing on Luck’s team.
However, the latter’s exceptional play has already drawn the 9-year veteran cornerback and 2x Pro Bowler’s attention, especially with his leadership and command:
"“The way he manages the game,” noted Jennings. “The way he manages the offense. Takes control of his huddle. Takes control of the offense, and he’s a patient kid. He takes what’s given. He doesn’t force anything and takes what’s given. He’s good with his feet.”"
While the experience was no doubt invaluable, like many other cornerbacks, Jennings likely considers himself fortunate that he doesn’t have to face Luck again this season. Facing the Green Bay Packers Aaron Rodgers twice in a season is probably enough already.
That may change in 2016; however, as the Colts are slated to play against the Chicago Bears and the rest of the NFC North as part of their non-conference schedule.
