With Brady Suspension, Colts Now Vegas Favorites to Win AFC
According to CBS Sports Will Brinson, the Indianapolis Colts are now Vegas favorites to win the AFC following the upholding of New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady‘s 4-game suspension:
"“The NFL’s decision Tuesday to uphold Tom Brady’s suspension threw Vegas for a major loop,” writes Brinson. “With some sort of reduction expected, the Patriots were easy favorites to repeat as AFC champs. Not anymore.”“The Colts are the new favorites at TopBet.eu (+240), Sportsbook.ag (+340) and Bovada.lv (+300),” adds Brinson. “At Top Bet the Patriots went from 8/1 to win the AFC to 10/1, while the Colts moved from 10/1 up to 8/1.”"
It makes some sense too, as the Patriots could lose a game or two during Brady’s suspension that they otherwise wouldn’t have. While they’re still widely expected to be a playoff team and remain one of the top teams in the AFC, it realistically could be the difference in homefield advantage throughout the playoffs. Especially, given how close the standings typically are at season’s end between contending teams.
An additional game or two in the loss column may not seem like much, but it could determine whether the Colts are playing at their personal “house of horrors” in Foxborough at Gillette Stadium or the friendly confines of Lucas Oil Stadium come January against the Patriots. Something that could very well be the difference in a season-determining win or loss between the two teams.
Thanks Vegas, now may the odds ever be in the Colts favor…
