NFL.com: Luck is QB with Best Chance to Win 1st Super Bowl

According to NFL.com’s Adam Schein, the Indianapolis Colts Andrew Luck is the quarterback with the best chance to win his 1st Super Bowl this season:

"1) Andrew Luck, Indianapolis ColtsThe Indianapolis Colts are true Super Bowl contenders, and Andrew Luck is the true superstar to carry them.General manager Ryan Grigson was very active during free agency, bringing in savvy veterans to address areas of need: running back (Frank Gore), receiver (Andre Johnson) and pass rusher (Trent Cole). Although all three Pro Bowlers are getting a little long in the tooth, their combined 32 NFL seasons carry a lot of weight in the locker room. The return of Robert Mathis, who missed all of last season with a torn Achilles tendon, is gigantic for theColts’ defense, as well. Although Cole and up-and-coming rusher Jonathan Newsome will likely eat into some of Mathis’ snaps, I believe coach Chuck Pagano when he says the 13-year pro “will make a huge impact” this year. All the talent infusion through free agency and the 2015 draft is helpful and make the Colts better, but let’s be honest — it’s all about the quarterback in Indy. The Colts enter camp as one of the NFL’s top-four teams because of Luck, who I think is the third-best player in the league."

Not only is Luck the best quarterback without a Super Bowl ring in the NFL, but he’s also playing for one of the handful of true contending teams in the NFL. When looking at other potential strong Super Bowl contenders this season in the Denver Broncos, Green Bay Packers, New England Patriots, and Seattle Seahawks among others, they all have prior Super Bowl winning quarterbacks in Peyton Manning, Aaron Rodgers, Tom Brady, and Russell Wilson respectively.

It’s not as though Luck “can’t win the big one”, as next season will only be his 4th season in the NFL for the 25 year old phenom. In fact, his Colts teams have made the playoffs all 3 seasons with him under center, having advanced a round further each season. If such a trend continues, coming off an AFC Championship game appearance, Luck’s team will be playing in the Super Bowl this season.

Joining Luck in the Top 8 list in order is the Arizona Cardinals Carson Palmer, the Philadelphia Eagles Sam Bradford, Houston Texans Ryan Mallett/Brian Hoyer, Miami Dolphins Ryan Tannehill, Minnesota Vikings Teddy Bridgewater, Dallas Cowboys Tony Romo, Kansas City Chiefs Alex Smith, and Carolina Panthers Cam Newton.
