The NFL released the latest batch of its “Top 100”, and the Indianapolis Colts T.Y. Hilton was named the 35th best player according to fellow NFL players:

The 4th year wideout is coming off a breakout season for the Colts, in which he caught 82 receptions for 1,345 receiving yards and 7 touchdowns. As testament to last year’s success, Hilton made his 1st career Pro Bowl last season.

In evaluating a player, his peers often know best, especially the ones that have to actually defend him in coverage every Sunday. Among the most powerful player quotes in Hilton’s Top 100 video:

"“You know he’s a guy that can take the top off a defense anytime,” said Browns safety Donte Whitner.“He’s so explosive, he can blow the roof off,” said safety Danieal Manning. “I think he might have been the fastest receiver that I had to cover this year,” said Cleveland Browns cornerback Joe Haden."

Whether the Colts and Hilton can reach a new contract agreement before the season starts is another story; however, the blazing fast wideout should be a staple in the Colts offense for years to come regardless.

He’s developed excellent rapport with Colts quarterback Andrew Luck since both entered the league in 2012. There’s no doubt that he’s quickly become the Colts undisputed #1 wideout and Luck’s favorite target in the team’s prolific passing attack.

If anyone wants to question how dangerous Hilton is, and as Hilton’s Top 100 video notes, New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick made it a point to double team Hilton extensively both times the two teams met last season.

It’s a pretty high compliment, when the brilliant defensive mastermind has you as the player he’s wanting to contain and take away. Regarding Hilton, Belichick noted, “T.Y.’s a great receiver. He’s got outstanding speed and quickness.”

Considering, he wasn’t even ranked in the NFL’s Top 100 last season, Hilton has made major strides as a wide receiver. The scary part is, that his best is still likely yet to come.
