The Indianapolis Colts rookie mini-camp started this afternoon at 1:10 PM at the Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance Football Center on West 56th street:
In addition to the Colts 8 drafted rookies of Phillip Dorsett, D’Joun Smith, Henry Anderson, Clayton Geathers, David Parry, Josh Robinson, Amarlo Herrera, and Denzelle Good, a number of other younger players will also be joining them according to Colts.com Media Reporter Steve Andress:
While we’ve previously covered the 15 undrafted free agents that were signed by the Colts, it appears as though there will also be some other young players that will be trying out for the team:
Camaron Beard, DL Cincinnati
Gannon Conway, DE Arizona State
Will Corbin, OG, Appalachian State
Caleb Farris, C/OG Virginia Tech
Justin Halley, S Florida International
Conner Hempel, QB Harvard
Sam Irwin-Hill, P Arkansas
DeMarco Nelson, S Tulsa
Taylor Pontius, K North Alabama
Chad Rempel, LS Saskatchewan
Kenny Scott, CB Liberty
Abou Toure, RB UT Martin
Damein Willis, OG Lane College
The rookie mini-camp presents a great opportunity for some of the Colts rookies to get to know their new coaches and teammates better and also get back to football shape. However, it also allows some of the undrafted free agents and even players undergoing tryouts to leave their mark and make their case for sticking with the team.
Colts Head Coach Chuck Pagano at his Rookie Mini-Camp Day 1 Press Conference already has gushed today about this group of rookies and young players, calling it an exciting time:
"“With the rookies, we’ve got a great group of guys here,” said Pagano. “I think we’ve got 46 guys here, draft choices, college free agents, tryout guys, really exciting time for these young men. Great opportunity.”“It’s really tough getting to this point. It’s hard getting into one of these buildings this time of year, and it’s even harder staying so…really excited about this group,” added Pagano."
