Colts Release Preseason Schedule

While the dates and times have yet to be determined, the Indianapolis Colts at least know who they will be playing in this year’s preseason, as the team recently made an announcement:

Week 1: @Philadelphia (August 13-16)

The Colts will get a rematch against a team that beat them 30-27 on Monday Night Football in Week 2 of last season.

Of course, this Eagles team looks drastically different with Sam Bradford as their projected starting quarterback (if he’s not traded) and the NFL’s reigning leading rusher in DeMarco Murray added, with former Eagles stars like LeSean McCoy and Jeremy Maclin now surprisingly departed.

Recently signed Colts in Trent Cole and Todd Herremans will get a shot to play their former team in the Eagles, even if it’s in a meaningless game, while Frank Gore will get to face the team that he spurned to bolt to the Colts this offseason.

Week 2: vs. Chicago (August 20-23)

It’s probably a good thing to forget that the inaugural game in Lucas Oil Stadium was a 29-13 loss to the Chicago Bears in 2008 as the season opener or that Andrew Luck‘s 1st career interception came against the Bears in another season opening 41-21 loss to the Bears in 2012.

However, this year’s Colts team is drastically different. Embattled Chicago Bears starting quarterback Jay Cutler, as a Santa Claus, Indiana, native will make a bit of a homecoming to his home state. While the Colts with a much more polished Andrew Luck than in their last matchup will look to fine tune themselves for one of their last games before the regular season.

Week 3: @ St. Louis (August 27-30)

Speaking of forget, does anyone want to remember that 38-8 blowout loss the Colts suffered at home to the Rams during Week 10 of 2013? It’s preseason, but maybe some of the Colts who suffered that embarrassing loss will play with a little extra. Either way, that St. Louis stalwart defensive line sure is downright scary, even for preseason.

Week 4: vs. Cincinnati (Thursday, September 3rd)

Finally, some good news. The Colts swept the Bengals last season in both the regular season in a 27-0 Week 7 shutout victory, as well as the playoffs in a convincing 26-10 WildCard win.

Of course, it’s an annual rite of preseason where the Colts play the Bengals in the last week of exhibition games. The team is currently 1-2 in preseason playing the Bengals during the Andrew Luck era of Colts football. Hopefully, that mark will improve this upcoming season.
