According to the Indianapolis Star’s Stephen Holder, 5 Colts have made the Pro Bowl: Vontae Davis, T.Y. Hilton, Andrew Luck, Pat McAfee, and Adam Vinatieri. The first of course comes as a big relief, as despite playing as one of the best cornerbacks all season, Vontae Davis wasn’t one of the Top 10 cornerback vote-getters in fan voting at his position. Of course, players and coaches decide the remaining 2/3rd’s of the voting, and they saw clearly enough to get Davis awarded into his 1st career Pro Bowl:
The remaining group of Hilton, Luck, McAfee, and Vinatieri is also well deserving as all 4 have been arguably among the best at their position as well. It’s also worth noting that Mike Adams and D’Qwell Jackson have been selected as alternates should anyone drop out because of injury or fatigue purposes. We’ve previously made a strong argument as to why Mike Adams belongs in the Pro Bowl.
Among the highlights of the 5 Colts chosen:
Vontae Davis: Davis has a league low quarterback rating of 39.1 and has allowed 0 touchdowns when targeted in coverage, which leads the league (ProFootballFocus).
T.Y. Hilton: Hilton has 82 receptions for 1,345 receiving yards and 7 touchdowns. Hilton has the 5th most receiving yards in the NFL with 1,345. His 82 receptions tie him for 12th most among receivers.
Andrew Luck: Luck is 370 for 600 in thrown passes for 4,601 passing yards, 38 touchdowns, and 16 interceptions. He ranks 4th overall in most passing yards and 2nd in most touchdowns at quarterback.
Pat McAfee: McAfee is 5th in average yards per punt (47.2 ypp) and 3rd in Net Average (43.2 net ypp). He is 3 for 3 in onside kick attempts, which is not only perfect at 100% and leads the league, but he’s the only kickoff specialist whose special teams unit has more than 2 successful recoveries on the season.
Adam Vinatieri: The ageless wonder at 41 years old is the only kicker that is perfect on the season, having made 28 of his 28 field goal attempts. Like a fine wine, Vinatieri has had perhaps his best season during his 19th year in the NFL.
There you have it, Colts fans! Those are your Pro Bowlers with the exception of possibly D’Qwell Jackson and Mike Adams also getting a nod.
