According to longtime Indianapolis Colts sports journalist and RTV6’s Mike Chappell, 9 Colts are in the Top 10 in the Pro Bowl fan voting at their respective positions. While this only makes up 1/3 of the voting process, it’s an interesting group of Colts with one notable omission:
- Quarterback: Andrew Luck, 4th
- Wide Receiver: T.Y. Hilton, 5th
- Tight End: Dwayne Allen, 9th
- Center: Jonotthan Harrison, 10th
- Inside Linebacker: D’Qwell Jackson, 6th
- Safety: Mike Adams, 4th
- Place Kicker: Adam Vinatieri, 3rd
- Punter: Pat McAfee, 4th
- Special Teams: Colt Anderson, 8th
Where’s Vontae Davis?

Earlier we put together a compelling piece as to why Vontae Davis should be put in the Pro Bowl. While ColtsNation rallied, it evidently wasn’t quite enough to overcome the casual, albeit misinformed NFL fan who apparently also frequently voted. Davis has been arguably one of the best cornerbacks in the game this season. The fact that we are talking about Pro Bowl is quite laughable, when we really should be talking about All-Pro recognition, as he’s been that good.
There’s still hope; however, as players and coaches’ votes have yet to be compiled, which comprises the remaining 2/3rds of the vote. Until then, Colts’ fans will just have to wait with idle anticipation as the official team will not be announced until December 23rd.
Looking over the Colts who were among the Top 10 at their respective positions, and it’s easy to see that players like Andrew Luck, T.Y. Hilton, Adam Vinatieri, and Pat McAfee were no brainers. Each one of them has easily been among the best players at their respective positions and can have a strong case made for becoming a Pro Bowler.

However, among all the Top 5 vote-getters, it was finally nice to see Mike Adams get some recognition, who we also put together a persuasive Pro Bowl piece on. He jumped from 6th in Pro Bowl voting on fan votes tallied on December 10th to now 4th in voting overall at his position. Great work, ColtsNation!
None of the other Colts’ players are really surprises except for Jonotthan Harrison and D’Qwell Jackson among the Top 10 at their positions. As an undrafted rookie, Harrison has struggled quite a bit this season and hasn’t overwelmingly impressed enough to warrant Pro Bowl consideration. While Jackson has picked up his play in recent weeks, he realistically shouldn’t be the 6th highest inside linebacker in votes right now. His high placement at his position seems more like a product of his premier name recognition, rather than for his play on the field.

Among the other listed Colts, Dwayne Allen is among the most complete tight ends in football,
when he’s healthy
. Still, he’s appeared in 12 games for the Colts this season, and if not for the severely sprained ankle, he’d probably be even higher at his position in votes. Even despite missing 3 full games, he still leads the Colts in touchdowns with 8 on the season.
Colt Anderson has played really well as a special teams gunner this season with 7 special teams tackles on the season. It’s nice to see him get some proper recognition as well, as he’s currently ranked 8th for special teams.
As mentioned, until December 23rd, ColtsNation will just have to wait and see for the final results.
