Andrew Luck After Saints Loss: ‘I’m Frustrated in Myself’
With his team clearly sputtering, Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck said he and the rest of the offense are frustrated following a 27-21 disappointing loss to the New Orleans Saints:
"“Yeah, I’d say I’m frustrated up here,” said Luck following the game. “I think as a unit we’re frustrated. I’m frustrated in myself with some egregious turnovers, especially the one at the end of the half. It’s really bad football.”"
At initial glance, Luck’s line was actually pretty good, as he was 23 for 44 (52.2%) for 333 passing yards 3 touchdowns and 2 interceptions. However, all 3 of those passing touchdowns came in garbage time, with the Colts already down 27-0–a big reason being because of Luck’s 2 first half interceptions.
While some observers have speculated that Luck’s injured shoulder could be limiting his throwing ability, Luck insists that he ‘feels fine’, and that it’s not the main issue for his struggles:
"“I feel fine, if that’s the question,” added Luck. “Obviously, I’m not happy with how I played or the result of the game.”"
Entering the season, it was widely predicted that Luck would take yet another logical leap into becoming one of the league’s truly elite quarterbacks along with the likes of Aaron Rodgers and Tom Brady. However, if anything he’s clearly regressed, as the 26 year old phenom simply hasn’t looked like himself the entire season.

When Luck’s not progressing through his reads and locking onto a receiver, he’s forcing throws into coverage and trying to do too much. He already has 9 interceptions on the season in 5 games, when he had 16 interceptions all of last season in 16 games.
At this point, it’s a fair question as to whether Luck is even the best option at quarterback right now with Matt Hasselbeck having played smarter and more efficient football in his relief.
No one can honestly suggest benching Luck, as the Colts are only going to go as far as #12 ultimately takes them. However, the coaching staff has to find a way to get him back on track–not just for this dumpster fire of a season, but for the organization’s long-term success.
Still, even with his rather poor play this season, Luck wasn’t hanging his head following Sunday’s loss and is going to work to fix both his and the offense’s issues along with his teammates:
"“But we’re pros, guys are pros,” concluded Luck. “The guys in that locker room will come to work and come in tomorrow and start working to fix it. I know that will be the case.”"
