Thanks to the AFC South, inferior quarterbacks, and bad kicking the Indianapolis Colts hold a 3-2 record after a rough start to the season. Matt Hasselbeck and the other wily old veteran might have saved the season with two straight wins, giving the team a hefty lead in the division.

But unfortunately for the Colts they are about to enter a rough patch in the middle of the schedule. The next five games were already going to be difficult, even if the team wasn’t struggling and Andrew Luck was healthy.

The Colts will face:

New England Patriots (4-0)

New Orleans Saints (1-4)

At Carolina Panthers (4-0)

Denver Broncos (5-0)

BYE WEEK

At Atlanta Falcons (5-0)

While not all of these teams have stellar records, they all feature top tier quarterbacks (or very talented ones) which the Colts have struggled against in the Chuck Pagano-era. These five teams are a combined 19-4. The only saving grace is that the Colts have three of these at home.

While the team won’t look ahead at the schedule (especially with New England coming to town this week) that doesn’t mean that we won’t take a glance at the upcoming slate. There’s good chance that three of those unbeaten teams will lose a game in the coming weeks, but that doesn’t change the fact that they are all playing football at a very high level.
