Colts Offseason Program Begins Today

The Indianapolis Colts began their offseason program today at the Indiana Farm Bureau Football Center. Players will look to get back into “football shape” over the next 8 weeks in workouts:

It means we’re just one step closer to football season, and it will be a good chance for many new Colts players including Andre Johnson, Frank Gore, Trent Cole, Todd Herremans, Kendall Langford, and Dwight Lowery among others to interact with their new teammates.

Regarding Johnson, after skipping last year’s offseason program with the Houston Texans, he’s expected to be a full participant in the Colts offseason workouts and arrived in Indianapolis yesterday (via Tania Ganguli of ESPN):

"“I’m excited about it,” Johnson said. “I’ll actually be heading to Indy tomorrow. I’m excited about the opportunity. Can’t wait to get it going. It’ll be different, but at the same time, still football. I’ll go in, just learn what I need to learn, learn my new teammates and try to fit in and help win games."

It should present a great opportunity for some of the Colts younger wide receivers to learn from Johnson and how he conducts himself in the weight room and also to pick his brain a little bit about the nuances of being an elite wideout in the NFL. Johnson wasn’t alone in sharing his excitement in arriving in Indianapolis for the team’s offseason program however:

It presents a great opportunity for not only some of the new Colts to get to know some of their teammates better, but also to get ready for next year and in better football condition, as next season quickly approaches.
