When the news broke of Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay passing away, it was met with immediate and heartfelt response by the entire football world.
One of the most powerful messages written in the wake of Irsay's passing would come from none other than former Colts head coach Tony Dungy, who took to his social media to pen a few emotional words.
"When I got the news last night that Jim Irsay had passed away in his sleep it was devastating to me. The Bible says in many places that tomorrow is not promised to us but I wasn’t ready for this.
Jim was one of the kindest, most compassionate people I have ever known," Dungy wrote.

The former head coach would go on to write more about Irsay's impact and kindness toward he and his family, which comes as no surprise to anybody within Colts nation.
"He was awesome to me and my family. He was a blessing to his players and staff," the former coach went on. "But more than that he had a heart for people and for the city of Indianapolis. He loved people and did so many things for others—more things than you could imagine. "
Dungy is spot on with those words. Irsay did love people. He did do so many things for others. In fact, one of the greatest achievements of his career was when he helped found Kicking the Stigma, an organization to help those who struggle with mental health.
Irsay was often referred to as the league's "touchable" owner. He made himself available to the public in many different ways. This is only one of many reasons why he was so special not only to Indianapolis, but the entire football world.
"I miss him already. He was a special man and I couldn’t have worked for a better owner," Dungy finished.
