The Indianapolis Colts have made a couple of important moves in free agency, and those include re-signing quarterback Daniel Jones and wide receiver Alec Pierce. The signing of safety Jonathan Owens didn't seem to move the needle much, except for Olympic gold medalist Simone Biles.
Biles wasn't necessarily a fan of the Colts before this offseason, but she is now, at least temporarily. That is because Indy signed her husband, former Chicago Bears defensive back Owens. The gymnast shared as much on her Instagram stories last week.
Biles wrote, "No Friday the 13th scaries here. So proud of you, baby. Indy, here we come!"

Colts fans should probably get used to Biles' appearances at Lucas Oil Stadium. She often was in attendance at Bears games, dressed in high fashion coupled with Owens' jersey number. No one could mistake why the icon was at the game or who she was truly rooting for.
As for Owens, the hope is that he will be better for Indy than he has been in previous stops. He has mostly been a special teams performer in the last couple of seasons, but when given the chance to start previously with the Green Bay Packers and Bears, his quarterback rating allowed was an awful 118.2 or worse.
He might not be expected to take the place of Nick Cross, who left in free agency. Hunter Wohler might need to do that for Indianapolis. Owens performed spectacularly in the third phase of the game, however, getting in on 11 tackles in 2025. He could be a boon to the roster even if he never plays a down on defense.
Of course, if he plays well enough to match his wife's excellence as a gymnast, that would be fantastic. Simone Biles has earned 11 Olympic medals, which include seven golds, two silvers, and two bronzes. Most recently, at the 2024 Paris Olympics, she earned gold in the vault and all-around events, as well as one in the team event.
No one is thinking Jonathan Owens wins a gold medal while playing with the Indianapolis Colts because that would be, well...impossible. The hope is that he can play a few downs on defense and pick up where he left off on special teams in 2025, a season in which he earned an elite 90.1 grade in the third phase of the game from Pro Football Focus (subscription required).
