Believe who you want about the Indianapolis Colts' self-created quarterback controversy. Maybe you are on Team Daniel Jones or maybe Team Anthony Richardson. Ultimately, what we all want is for Indy to do well, make the playoffs, and be dangerous once there. If that's Jones or Richardson that helps win games, no matter.
But because there is a lot of drama involved in a decision that won't play out until into the 2025 season, national pundits and talking heads are having free rein over what they can say. If they are wrong, no one will care. People will have moved on to the next souped-up issue by then.
One of the pundits is former NFL quarterback Robert Griffin III. RGIII knows a lot about first-round busts, such as Richardson appears to firmly be on the verge of becoming, because Griffin is one himself. Maybe he felt slighted because he began being passed over as a QB1, mostly because of injuries.
Robert Griffin III's take on the Indianapolis Colts is unfair to the entire team
There are a lot of similarities between Griffin and Richardson, to be fair. One glaring difference is that post-career, Griffin seems to understand what it takes to be a successful quarterback in the NFL. Richardson doesn't know that yet.
But RGIII recently gave a brutal critique of the Colts organization. The issue is his statement is unfair to the players on the team. And make no mistake, the Indianapolis roster is overall a good one.
That Griffin discredits everyone, but the quarterback position is wrong. He recently posted on social media that he is "convinced" that the Colts are tanking in hopes of being able to draft University of Texas quarterback (and Peyton Manning's nephew) Arch Manning. The caveat is that Griffin thinks that could happen in 2026 or 2027.
Whether Arch comes out in 2026 or 2027.

First, the Indianapolis players are not going to be part of intentionally losing games. Their livelihoods are predicated on them doing well, as they could eventually leave Indianapolis in free agency and want to look their best. No athlete wants to continuously lose games.
Secondly, the Colts roster is a good one. Even if Daniel Jones or Anthony Richardson isn't playing great football, the team is still going to remain in close games because of the rest of the team. Indy is not going to be bad enough to have their first overall pick in the draft.
Speaking of, what does Griffin mean by adding the 2027 draft? Is he assuming Daniel Jones, who is a free agent next offseason, will be re-signed if he plays poorly just so the team will lose games? That makes zero sense. Robert Griffin III is simply tweeting to be read, and in this case, his mission was accomplished.
