Let's just start with what everybody is thinking: Indianapolis Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson is seemingly likely to be traded. The team made him inactive for Week 6, after all. If something happens to Daniel Jones, Riley Leonard will take over.
In other words, if Jones gets hurt in Week 6, the Colts are likely cooked. Leonard isn't ready to win many games. But why else make Richardson inactive unless another team was interested in acquiring him and Indy didn't want to risk him to injury? An injured AR5 does no one any good.
That's the catch. According to the NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Richardson was actually injured in warmups ahead of Indy's game against the Arizona Cardinals. How bad the injury is remains to be known, and maybe it is minor and the team doesn't want to risk him to something worse.
Anthony Richardson appears to get injured in warmups ahead of the Indianapolis Colts' Week 6 matchup
As bad as Richardson has been on the field at times, he's never been an off-field issue, though. As he had no injury designation before the game, many Colts fans might have logically thought that Richardson had done something the coaches weren't happy with. Or that he was about to be traded.
Instead, it might be worse. One reason that Anthony Richardson hasn't been able to show that he can be a good quarterback, if he indeed can be, is that he gets hurt too much. He has suffered several ailments since entering the league. Whatever happened before Week 6 is just another on a long list.
And as far as AR5 getting traded, his play will scare off some teams, but his injury history will scare off many others. Few teams (even an organization as bad as the Cleveland Browns) are willing to give up much value if they think they are getting a player who won't be available consistently. That is the definition of AR5.
For his sake, let's hope he can get back soon. He isn't a bad guy, but he hasn't been a good football player or the Indianapolis Colts either. He needs to earn his contract, or he will be gone one way or another from Indy by at least 2027.
Cornerback Charvarius Ward also sustained an injury in pregame warmups. He suffered a concussion and had to miss the game against the Arizona Cardinals.
