Raiders are raiding the Colts' roster and it's not a coincidence

They're not fooling anyone.

The Indianapolis Colts' free-agency exodus continues. Once again, the new-look Las Vegas Raiders have stolen a key contributor to Lou Anarumo's defense, and while one might be a coincidence, two is clearly a pattern.

Just days after signing edge rusher Kwity Paye, the Raiders have now signed LB Segun Olubi. Clearly, they liked what they saw from the Colts' defense in 2025, and they're trying to put together their own version in Sin City.

The Raiders' defense gave up 25. points per game, the seventh-most in the league. Their 46.3 percent third-down conversion rate allowed was the third-worst in the league.

However, they were right in the middle of the pack in total yards allowed per game (331.2), so they might be just a couple of tweaks away from getting it together. Those tweaks may have come in the form of two Colts free agents.

While Lou Anarumo may not miss Olubi that much, his presence on special teams was always positive. In his four years with the organization, he made 51 appearances (two starts) and logged 50 tackles (30 on special teams), two forced fumbles, one pick, and one pass defensed.

Imitation is the best form of flattery. The Raiders are trying to get back to contention, with new defensive coordinator Rob Leonard, whose background as a defensive line coach and defensive run game coordinator makes him put strong emphasis on the trenches, and he might think of Olubi as a diamond in the rough who may only need more time to blossom.

Whatever the case, this has been a rather uneventful offseason for the Colts. They haven't done much because they didn't need to do much, even after their late-season collapse following Daniel Jones' injury.

Of course, watching other teams make moves and steal players is frustrating, but the Colts haven't lost many key contributors besides Michael Pittman Jr. They knew sacrifices had to be made to keep Daniel Jones and Alec Pierce in town.

As things stand now, it's hard to believe the Colts will make many big moves -- if any. Their main reinforcement arrived in town midway through the season when they acquired cornerback Sauce Gardner, and that should just about do it. Even so, keeping some of their own free agents in town should be Chris Ballard's next order of business, especially with the Raiders trying to copy his homework.
