Laquon Treadwell was recognized as a preseason standout in the Pro Football Focus (PFF) Team of the Preseason, the only member of the Colts to be named. Though Treadwell didn't make the final 53-man active roster, he was signed to the practice squad, but could still be an asset for the Colts if he ends up elevated to the active roster on offense or special teams.

In 2016, Treadwell was selected by the Minnesota Vikings in the draft, but he only appeared in nine games in his rookie season. By 2019, he was released as a free agent, and moved on to numerous teams before signing with the Colts this summer. He struggled to find success in the NFL, never making more than 35 catches or 434 yards in a single season. But his performance with the Colts so far may hint that he still has some untapped potential.

During the preseason, Treadwell shone. He lead the Colts in receiving yards, and tied for the sixth most receptions in the NFL. In the preseason opener against the Denver Broncos, Treadwell connected with rookie quarterback Jason Bean for a 16-yard touchdown; in the Colts' win over the Cardinals, he caught all seven passes for 72 yards.

PFF gave Treadwell an 82.2 overall grade, but despite his stellar performance, he will continue on the practice squad with Bean.

That doesn't mean Treadwell won't get the chance to take the field, however. He adds depth to the Colts receiving corps, and could easily be called up to the active roster should one of the starting receivers be injured.

The Colts take on the Houston Texans for the regular season opener on Sunday. The division rivalry game has the Texans favored to win, but Anthony Richardson is back at the helm, and even with the star QB on the sidelines, the Colts were still within striking distance of winning the AFC South last season with Gardner Minshew leading the team. With Richardson back in action, the strength of the Colts offense, and the Colts playing at home, the Texans could be in for a surprise upset.
