Dynasty rookie drafts are well underway, and the Indianapolis Colts finally have a player in Anthony Richardson that is worth selecting early in drafts.

Dynasty leagues are becoming widely popular for fantasy sports whether you are a casual player or a hardcore fantasy footballer. It essentially gives you the most realistic feel to building your team year after year, allowing you to keep your players and draft the new rookies. So if you had a bad season last year, or traded up to get one of the top picks in the draft, you have the chance to land one of the best players in the rookie draft. So who is that player this year?

Many believe that Bijan Robinson is the 1.01 of dynasty drafts, which just means he is the first pick off the board. But do the Indianapolis Colts have a player that could dethrone Robinson from the first overall pick in your draft?

The short answer is maybe. Like all scenerios, it really depends on your league's format. Is it a Superflex league where you can play two quarterbacks? Is it a standard PPR where you only get to play one quarterback? Are you in a league where running backs get points per carry?

Is Anthony Richardson worth the first pick in a PPR fantasy league?

If you are picking at 1.01 in a rookie draft, your team likely was not good last year and you need talent. Who scores more points than the quarterback, especially one that is mobile and will likely score rushing touchdowns? Adding Anthony Richardson is going to be a tempting choice. In this instance, unless you are in QB hell, I'd take Atlanta Falcons running back Bijan Robinson.

Recently, Robinson has stated that head coach Arthur Smith is using him all over the field as a running back and wide receiver. That's going to be key to a young player in a PPR format. Robinson has the chance to be a legitamte RB1 in fantasy this year.

Missing on the chance to have one of the top running backs in the league would be a detriment to most fantasy teams. It's really hard to find a running back that will consistently score more than 15ppg, and Robinson has the ability to get that done each week.

Passing on Richardson might hurt a little bit, espeically if he does become a top 10 fantasy player similar to the projection that Justin Fields and Jalen Hurts had. However, you can still get a quarterback in the second round.

Most PPR leagues will draft running backs and wide receivers in the first round. Typically, the top two quarterbacks will go late in the first round. That would still leave you QB3 in the draft which is likely to be either Bryce Young or CJ Stroud. Neither are a bad option here.

Could Anthony Richardson go first in a Superflex league?

There is absolutely a real possibility that Anthony Richardson goes 1.01 or 1.02 in Superflex/Two QB leagues. Richardson has the ability to finish in the top 15 this year and be a perennial top 10 QB in the league for years to come.

In a recent rookie draft, where I had the 1.02, Richardson was selected first overall, so I defaulted to Bijan Robinson. Had Richardson been available, that would have easily been him there instead.

His average draft position is No. 2 in most superflex formats, but I have occasionally seen him selected with the 1.03. If Richardson is your guy that you must have on your team, trade up and get him. Always "get your guy" in dynasty.

Is he worth the 1.01 when Bijan Robinson has a lot of value as a running back? The answer is yes. Even if you have two top quarterbacks in the league, you can package one for more picks or better players. Richardson is 20 years old and will be valuable for years to come.

A QB2 is still more valuable than most flex positions and even a lot of starters for running backs and wide receivers. Even if he has an average year in his rookie season on the Colts, he's still a solid look to be a starter on your team. Win your league with this rookie draft and take Anthony Richardson.
