Sterling Shepard is not the veteran receiver the Colts need

If this was a few years ago, the Colts would do themselves a favor to go out and get Sterling Shepard, but that's not a Ballard kind of move either. Ballard tends to stay away from veterans at all costs in these scenerios. However, Shepard has been a good piece for the Giants that last few years and could provide some valuable resources to Indianapolis’ young receiver group.

During his time with the Giants, Shepard was the primary target when he was on the field. Shepard's last time he played a full season was in 2018, when he caught 107 passes for 872 yards. Since then, he's finished his seasons playing 10, 12, 7, and 3 games. Injuries have plagued Shepard and it really has hit a snag in his career.

The Colts do not need an aging veteran that will be in his age 30 season. If they didn't bring back T.Y. Hilton, they should stay far away from bringing Shepard in. Along with other older receivers that are not still producing at a high level.

Indianapolis certainly can use some wide receiver help but Indy must be smart about where it’s looking for that help and how much it’s going to cost.
