The NFL has finally announced the suspension for Isaiah Rodgers Sr., and another Indianapolis Colts player was also suspended along with Rodgers.
UPDATE: The Colts have cut both Isaiah Rodgers Sr. and Rashod Berry following the announcement that were suspended indefinitely for violating the league’s gambling policy.
After much speculation, the NFL has finally announced that the league is suspending Isaiah Rodgers Sr. indefinitely, through at least the end of the 2023 NFL season. This, of course, was expected after Rodgers took responsibility for his gambling violations. However, it wasn’t expected that a second Colts player would also be suspended.
In the NFL’s announcement, it was also revealed that Colts linebacker Rashod Berry is being suspended indefinitely as well. Both Berry and Rodgers are apart of the latest group of players that will miss time for violating the league’s gambling policy. In the last two offseasons, 10 players have been suspended for gambling violations.

NFL suspends two Colts players: Isaiah Rodgers Sr. and Rashod Berry
Rashod Berry was signed by Indianapolis in January off the Jacksonville Jaguars practice squad. The only official game that he was on Indy’s roster for was the 2022 season finale against the Houston Texans. After bouncing around from the New England Patriots to the Detroit Lions, Jaguars, and now Colts, Berry was going to compete for a spot on Indy’s roster. However, he will now be suspended until at least after the 2023 season, when he’ll have the opportunity to apply for reinstatement.
The bigger loss for the Colts, of course, is Isaiah Rodgers Sr. Rodgers was entering his fourth season and was poised for a breakout year as he was going to be the team’s top corner. Unfortunately, he’ll now be away from the team until he’s reinstated, and the earliest that can happen is at the conclusion of the 2023 season. That means Indy will rely on some really young corners.
The NFL has been making its stance on players gambling clear. With so many suspensions being handed out in the last two years, the league is hoping that everyone else learns the rules and follows them.
