The Indianapolis Colts' leading receiver from last season, Michael Pittman Jr., will play the free agency market this offseason. The Colts also have $72 million in cap space they need to spend. In a season where Indianapolis was close to the playoffs, they could use all the help they can get.

Shane Stechen has overhauled the Colts offense and Michael Pittman Jr. is a big part of that. This past season , Pittman gained over 1,000 yards and caught over 100 balls leading the Colts. Pittman also became one of only a handful of Colts players to have a season like that, putting him in the same company with Reggie Wayne and Marvin Harrison.

Even more important is what Pittman brings to locker room. He is not afraid to call out poor play and call out coaches for not getting him the ball. That leadership is need, especially on a young team like Indianapolis.

This offseason, the Colts need to be aggressive in free agency as the team has multiple needs including wide receiver and depth at the position. Alec Pierce took a step forward and rookie Josh Downs played well while being in the running for Rookie of the Year.

Let’s look at some of the pros and cons of re-signing Michael Pittman Jr. to a huge contract.
