It’s the time of the year where everyone reacts to a video game. With each new football season comes the latest version of the Madden football game. Although it’s just a game, things get very serious in regards to player ratings in the game. It’s essentially just another ranking list that shows how every player and team is viewed in the league.

On Monday, wide receiver ratings were released. That gave Indianapolis Colts fans the opportunity to see how high Michael Pittman Jr., and the team’s other wideouts were rated. Turns out, Madden thinks pretty highly of Pittman. He wasn’t one of the top ranked receivers, but with a 85 overall, Pittman is viewed as one of the best wide receivers in the AFC South.

Michael Pittman Jr. has an 85 overall rating in Madden 24

Technically, Pittman is the second-best receiver in the division according to Madden, but it is a tie. DeAndre Hopkins is the highest-rated AFC South receiver with a 93 overall. Pittman and the Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver duo of Calvin Ridley and Christian Kirk all have an 85 overall. Odell Beckaham Jr. is the only other receiver with that current rating. All four are tied for the 25th-highest receiver rating in the game. While that may seem low, it really just speaks to how deep the wide receiver position is in the NFL.

Pittman, who’s entering his fourth season in the league, will have the opportunity to improve his rating throughout the season. It’ll be a big year for Pittman, as it is a contract year, so he’ll definitely be trying to put up big numbers as he builds a rapport with rookie quarterback Anthony Richardson. The stable quarterback play should unlock a new level for Pittman in the next few years.

As for the rest of the Colts receivers, they have some work to do to get a respectable rating. Isaiah McKenzie is a 77 and Ashton Dulin is a 72. Alec Pierce is a 74, and that should definitely be boosted throughout the season, as Pierce is set for a breakout year. The same can be said for rookie Josh Downs, who is currently a 71. If he hits the scene like everyone is anticipating, his rating will climb as well.
