Indianapolis Colts rookie receiver Josh Downs is dealing with a knee injury that led to him being questionable last week and eventually forced him from the game against the Carolina Panthers.

The Colts would love to have Downs back in Week 10 against the New England Patriots, but the rookie receiver did not participate in the team’s first practice of the week.

Here’s the latest on his status for Week 10:

Downs does not have an official designation yet this week, but he did not participate in the team’s practice on Wednesday.

Jonathan Taylor anytime touchdown scorer

Jonathan Taylor found the end zone last week, and he’s scored in two of the last three weeks for the Colts.

The team’s No. 1 option on offense, Taylor is hoping to keep things rolling against a tough New England run defense. The bright side? Taylor was involved heavily in the passing game last week with Downs injured.

I expect him to see plenty of touches in Week 10.

Josh Downs injury history

This is the first injury that Downs has suffered at the NFL level, but it’s worth noting that in the 2022 season while still in college, he missed two games with a knee issue.

Downs attempted to play in Week 9 with his knee injury, but he ended up coming out of the game and not returning.

When is Josh Downs coming back?

If Downs can’t go against the Patriots, his next chance to play would come in Week  12 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Colts are on the bye in Week 11.
