The Indianapolis Colts may be getting running back Jonathan Taylor back in Week 5 of the 2023 season despite the fact that he had wanted to be traded this past offseason.

Taylor reportedly is set to practice on Wednesday, a great sign for his status for Week 5. He’s currently on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list with an ankle injury.

Colts offensive coordinator Jim Bob Cooter seemed excited about the idea that Taylor could return, which could be a sign that he’s returning to a major role in Indy.

Here’s the latest on Taylor’s status for Week 5:

Jonathan Taylor injury status for Week 5 matchup vs. Tennessee Titans

Taylor is not officially ruled in to play in Week 5, but he looks to be tracking to return from the PUP list to make his season debut.

UPDATE, Sunday morning: After inking a new contract extension this weekend, Taylor is off the PUP list and ready to go for the Colts. However, he'll likely be eased in in his season debut, splitting the workload with Zack Moss, per multiple media reports.

Best Jonathan Taylor prop bet vs. Titans in NFL Week 5

Jonathan Taylor anytime touchdown scorer

There aren’t prop bets out quite yet for the Colts-Titans matchup, but once they are, bettors may want to jump on Taylor to score a touchdown.

Tennessee actually has a solid run defense this season, but we’re talking about one of the best runners in all of the NFL.

The Colts have a great power run game going with Anthony Richardson and Zack Moss, but Taylor makes it even more lethal. Since his touches may be up in the air, I’ll ride with him to simply punch one in this week.

Jonathan Taylor injury history

After playing in 15 games as a rookie and 17 in the 2021 season, Taylor was limited to just 11 games in the 2022 campaign because of an ankle injury.

He underwent a cleanup surgery on the injury in January, but it still cost him the first few games of this season.

When is Jonathan Taylor coming back?

It appears that Taylor has a chance to play for the Colts in Week 5. Despite a messy offseason where the two sides disputed over a new contract, Taylor seems to be willing to return and play for the Colts.
