Colts 7-Round Mock Draft: Indianapolis nearly forgets about Anthony Richardson
By Ryan Heckman
One of the funny, yet true questions Colts fans have been asking this offseason is, 'who's going to play safety?' Are the Colts really going to ride into the 2024 season with Rodney Thomas starting alongside Nick Cross?
In Round 2 and with pick no. 46 overall, the Colts grab the guy who graded out as the best overall safety prospect in the class, according to NFL Media's Lance Zierlein.
Bullard brings good speed, having run a 4.47 in his 40-yard dash. But, he's more of a smart football player than anything else. The guy has great instincts to go with his speed. Whether it's route recognition or in run support, Bullard is quick to diagnose and react.
When a lot of safeties struggle against crafty wide receivers and double moves, Bullard isn't one of them. His patience is one of the best characteristics of his game. He's patient and knows just when to make a break on the receiver or the football.
Oh, and the guy can tackle. He's not afraid of contact. He'll blow right through would-be blockers in order to bring a play to an end.
