The Indianapolis Colts have spent the bulk of their offseason building in a unique way. It's been all about keeping their in-house names on the squad.
And, that's a testament to how much they believe in quarterback Anthony Richardson.
But, this team still needs to add a bit more talent, and on both sides of the ball. In the upcoming 2024 NFL Draft, the Colts have the no. 15 pick in the first round. They have all seven picks, one in each round.
How do they attack their needs? Do they pass on adding offensive talent? Hopefully not, but in this mock draft, that's how the cards fell, in a way.
To kick off this 2024 NFL mock draft, the Indianapolis Colts go defense
The Colts re-signed maybe the best nickel corner in the league, in bringing back Kenny Moore, this offseason. But, they could use additional help on the outside. Whether or not you think JuJu Brents and Dallis Flowers can cut it, the Colts can't pass up an opportunity to get one of the most impressive athletes and one of the best corners in the league here in the first round.
Toledo standout cornerback Quinyon Mitchell lit up the NFL Combine by running a blistering 4.33 seconds in his 40-yard dash. But, he's not just all speed. Mitchell can be argued as the draft's top cornerback prospect.
Mitchell has excellent size, standing six feet tall and weighing just shy of 200 pounds. He is of course an athlete, but last season, he came up with a whopping 18 pass breakups. The guy is an absolute player.
His footwork is quick and shifty, allowing him to stay with receivers on all types of routes. His speed and footwork also allow for a lightning-quick closing on receivers. He's a sure tackler and has the strength to help support in the run game, too. Overall, Mitchell doesn't have a glaring weakness.
