One Colts player on the roster bubble at each position
By Ryan Heckman
Cornerback: Ameer Speed
In the secondary, the Colts used a pair of draft picks on corners this year, snagging Auburn's Jaylin Simpson in the fifth round and then Marshall's Micah Abraham in the sixth. The latter figures to back up Kenny Moore in the slot, while Simpson stands behind starter JuJu Brents. Dallis Flowers and Jaylon Jones round out the top six corners, overall.
That would leave Ameer Speed as the seventh or eighth guy up, depending on where you view Darrell Baker Jr. The Colts may not keep that high a number of corners, which would leave Speed off the final roster and keep him firmly on the bubble, for now.
Safety: Trevor Denbow
The safety position is still one the Colts could add to, especially with some of the veterans still available in free agency. Indy didn't use a draft pick on the safety position, which was discouraging to many fans. But, maybe that was intentional because a veteran signing would end up coming eventually.
Regardless, Trevor Denbow still finds himself at no. 5 or 6 in terms of overall safety depth, right now, and he'll have an uphill battle in order to find a permanent roster spot. Barring a phenomenal training camp, he's on the bubble for the time being.
