With the majority of this offseason's moves in the rear view, the Indianapolis Colts' roster is essentially set, barring a couple of last-minute veteran signings that might take place between now and late August.
The story of the Colts' offseason has been that of keeping the band together, as this organization is preaching continuity and consistency.
As Anthony Richardson gets set for Year 2, this Colts roster looks to be in pretty good shape, all things considered.
Short of an unforeseen, blockbuster move, the Colts' roster looks just about set
Which players might be in danger of losing a roster spot as this offseason rolls on, though?
Quarterback: Sam Ehlinger
The Colts essentially swapped Gardner Minshew for Joe Flacco as their backup quarterback this offseason, but Sam Ehlinger is still hanging around as the third man in line. However, Indianapolis also signed a pair of undrafted free agents in BYU's Kedon Slovis and Kansas' Jason Bean.
Ehlinger has spent three years with Indy, now, and has just as many starts over his career. If either Slovis or Bean impress this offseason, they could be worth hanging onto over Ehlinger. With his experience, Ehlinger might also like the idea of starting fresh, elsewhere.
Running Back: Trey Sermon
The running back position is still one that the Colts could have afforded to ugprade behind Jonathan Taylor, but they still have not done so. Evan Hull, Tyler Goodson and Trey Sermon remain the top three behind Taylor, and although Sermon ran fairly well in his limited capacity in 2023, he's still listed fourth on the depth chart. Thus, he's in danger of losing a job.
