Ah, yes. The running back position in Indianapolis has been arguably the most talked-about position over the past couple of weeks, maybe outside of quarterback. The Colts recently gave Jonathan Taylor permission to seek a trade, just weeks after Jim Irsay doubled-down on the notion that a trade would never happen.

But, here we are. The Colts don't have a real answer at running back, and for now, it looks like it could be either rookie fifth-round pick Evan Hull or veteran Kenyan Drake taking over the bulk of the carries as the team's lead back.

Because of the injury to Zack Moss, the team is extremely thin, especially if Taylor gets traded. Ideally, the Colts would trade Taylor to a team in a deal that brings them another running back.

Aside from Drake and Hull, the Colts have Deon Jackson who functions better as a third down type back. Then, there's Jake Funk, who is a long shot to make the roster simply because of where he's at on the depth chart, but also because the Colts have to make a move if Taylor is traded. One would think that they're not going into the season with only their current backs on the roster.
