Colts 7-Round Mock Draft: Indianapolis addresses top two concerns immediately
By Ryan Heckman
The Indianapolis Colts have quietly had a strong offseason, keeping many of their quality players in Indy and planning their offseason accordingly.
It's been all about the belief in Anthony Richardson going forward, and the second-year pro has said publicly he's "on a mission" in 2024. This Colts team could be special, but they still have a few spots to address in the upcoming 2024 NFL Draft.
Owning the no. 15 pick in the draft, the Colts have a variety of directions they could go with that selection. But, for the sake of roster completion and development, we tried going with the best player available that would also fill a need, at least early on.
This mock draft gives the Colts exactly what they need early on
In the first round, Indianapolis sees one of the top corners in the class sitting there and cannot resist.
Re-signing maybe the best slot corner in football, Kenny Moore, was a huge move by the Colts. But, they still need some help on the outside. That's why Alabama's Terrion Arnold makes the most sense here. If he's on the board on Day 1, the Colts have to pounce. He gives them a sure-fire starter on the outside.
Arnold has good size, standing six feet tall. He brings that quick-twitch athleticism to the table, too. He's very reactionary and plays intelligently. Arnold is able to stay with receivers fairly tightly because of his fluid hips and ability to change direction in a hurry. He has great ball skills and is super competitive at the catch point.
While some defensive backs can lay off the aggressiveness in tackling, at times, that's not Arnold. He is a willing and physical tackler, whether it's a receiver, running back or tight end. He's always going to put in the effort to make the play.
